Drill Pipe

drill pipe header

Total Depth Tools offers full line of new and used drill pipe in nominal sizes from 2 3/8" to 7 5/8" in E, X, G and S grades and with a wide range of API and non-standard wall thicknesses. We are also able to source sour service grades on request for harsh drilling environments where H2S is present.

Drill pipe is a tubular component in the drill string used to transmit rotational energy from the surface to a drill bit downhole. The drill pipe transmits drilling fluid (via the mud pumps) and torque (via the kelly drive or top drive) to the drill bit. The drill pipe is hollow so that drilling fluid can be pumped down through it and circulated back up the annulus (the void between the drill string and the casing/open hole).

Each drill pipe comprises a long tubular section with a specified outside diameter. At each end of the drill pipe tubular there are larger-diameter portions called tool joints. One end of the drill pipe has a male ("pin") connection whilst the other has a female ("box") connection. The tool joint connections are threaded, which allows for the "make-up" of each drill pipe segment to the next segment.

The most common applications of drill pipe are in the Oil and Gas Industry as well as the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Industry. Please CONTACT US for any new/used drill pipe inquiries you are in search of.
