Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)
Total Depth Tools offers an extensive line of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Drill Pipe in various sizes ranging from 3-1/2" to 8-3/4" Outside Diameter. We also offer the industry standard "Slick Stick" in 20’ and 31’ lengths.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a trenchless method of installing infrastructure such as telecommunications and power cable conduits into areas that are undesirable for environmental and/or constructability reasons, ie. Installation of pipelines beneath railroads, highways, rivers, and other environmentally sensitive areas. The HDD technique is also used for installing water lines, gas lines, sewer lines, oil lines, product pipelines, and environmental remediation casings.
During the HDD process, a pilot hole is first drilled along a predetermined path. The pilot hole is then enlarged in single or multiple steps (reaming passes) to accommodate the pullback of the carrier pipe into the enlarged hole.
The HDD process helps to alleviate unneeded environmental impact by preventing traditional trenching and excavation practices.
Total Depth Tools can expediently offer its customers high quality HDD Drill Pipe products at economical prices. Please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. today and let us know how we can assist you.

Heavy Weight Drill Pipe
Total Depth Tools offers a full line of new and used Heavy Weight Drill Pipe (HWDP) in nominal sizes from 3 1/2" to 6 5/8".
HWDP is another component of the drill string that acts as a gradual transition between the heavy, stiff drill collar and the flexible drill pipe. HWDP helps prevent undue stress concentrations in the drill pipe by improving the Bending Stress Ratios in the drill string. Without the use of HWDP, the drill pipe would be at a substantial risk of fatigue.
HWDP is most commonly used in the process of horizontal drilling to helps to prevent differential sticking, reduce buckling, and control torque. HWDP is a vital part of the drill string and is heavily recommended to minimize the operational risks relating to downhole failure.
We have a vast inventory of new and used HWDP in standard (slick) and spiral options. If we don't have what you are looking for, we can order it new from our manufacturing partners domestic and abroad. Please contact us for any new/used HWDP inquiries.
Drill Collars
Total Depth Tools offers a full range of drill collars which are manufactured from AISI 4145H-modified steel. We can supply sizes ranging from 3 1/8" OD to 11" OD in Slick and Spiral options. Drill Collars are thick walled joints of tubular steel used as a weight mechanism to increase the downward force on a drill bit and provide maximum effort in breaking down formations.
Drill Collars are machined from solid bars of steel usually comprised of plain carbon. However, some applications require nonmagnetic nickel-copper alloy or other nonmagnetic premium alloys. The internal diameter (ID) is drilled from end to end to provide a passage for pumping drilling fluids through the drill string. The outside diameter (OD) of the Drill Collar comes in either slick or spiral varieties to accommodate the drilling needs of each customer.

Drill Pipe
Total Depth Tools offers full line of new and used drill pipe in nominal sizes from 2 3/8" to 7 5/8" in E, X, G and S grades and with a wide range of API and non-standard wall thicknesses. We are also able to source sour service grades on request for harsh drilling environments where H2S is present.
Drill pipe is a tubular component in the drill string used to transmit rotational energy from the surface to a drill bit downhole. The drill pipe transmits drilling fluid (via the mud pumps) and torque (via the kelly drive or top drive) to the drill bit. The drill pipe is hollow so that drilling fluid can be pumped down through it and circulated back up the annulus (the void between the drill string and the casing/open hole).
Each drill pipe comprises a long tubular section with a specified outside diameter. At each end of the drill pipe tubular there are larger-diameter portions called tool joints. One end of the drill pipe has a male ("pin") connection whilst the other has a female ("box") connection. The tool joint connections are threaded, which allows for the "make-up" of each drill pipe segment to the next segment.
The most common applications of drill pipe are in the Oil and Gas Industry as well as the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Industry. Please CONTACT US for any new/used drill pipe inquiries you are in search of.
